As modern day fashion evolves every day, from off the streets and via the media I have noticed Disney princess seems to be influencing the some of the latest fashion trends to hit the market from one of the high street’s most popular names in fashion- Topshop. I personally love Disney and Topshop, two of my favourite things should take pride in this comparison of fashion forwardness. We can relive our childhood dreams of Disney princesses through one of the biggest and most fashionable shops in the UK.
Jasmine from Aladdin is all about the ‘Luxe sport’ look. The bralet and jogger like trousers that Jasmine is sporting (excuse the pun) is so in right now as the summer rolls around. The bright colours, a risqué crop top and casual leggings are what everyone’s wearing towards the summer months. Yes, Cinderella does take the new ‘prom dress’ look to the next level with her floor length gown, but the colour and model is very similar to the ‘prom dress’ fashion that Topshop is selling in their stores. Topshop’s version is shorter and definitely more modern, but the general idea is still quite similar to our favourite midnight runaway. It’s all about Aztec and Tribal prints following in Pocahontas’s footsteps into the fashion of fringing and faux leather sandals, what can I say Pocahontas is not from the ‘olden days’ but brought back to life as one of today’s latest fashion must-haves.
Mulan’s making manly, more manly by pretending to be a man for the sake of her father’s safety. We can embrace this androgynous look and join in, the sharp shoulders pads creating defined, broader should and the dark leggings keeping us slim lined. Taking this look for our smart or casual delights. Esmerelda is sometimes the forgotten Disney princess, yes she isn’t technically a ‘princess’ but the female protagonist in the film ‘The Hunchback of Notre Dame.’ She is all about cute collars, scarves and maxi skirts. ‘Sleeping Beauty’ as Briar Rose goes for a very similar look to Esmerelda too of flouncy blouse and slightly pleated skirt.
