Asian Adventure – Nha Trang

Nha Trang is the beach capital of Vietnam. In true Mexican fashion, we decided to just stick to the beaches. After having spent time in dusty Ho Chi Minh City, it seemed the natural choice. The first day at Nha Trang, we went to Long Beach, which is the funniest beach we have ever visited. We had never seen a beach where the majority of the shoreline was covered, and the roof spread well into the ocean. Apparently, the Vietnamese don’t love tanning like we do. The locals in Nha Trang are all about relaxing, lying in the shade and having fresh seafood. We did all these things, but then we played in the sunshine as well.
We also got chance to be on the other sided of the lens. The Vietnamese people on the beach wanted to take pictures with us. We were the tourist attraction. Our new friend, Chau, thought that Fernanda wearing a Vietnamese hat was the funniest thing ever. She even came to our hotel to give her a scarf for the hat! It was interesting to be on the other side.
We met a very enthusiastic saleswoman on the beach. After waking us up (and startling us) with a loud “hey!” she broke into song. She sang “Grapefruit, Mango, Pineapple, Banana … Watermelon!” to the rhythm of Harry Belafonte. Needless to say, we got a mango.
The colours in this place are amazing. We keep wondering if our camera is really that good or if it’s just impossible to get a bad picture in beautiful Nha Trang.
