An Interview With Fashion Blogger: Camilla Delacoe
July 23, 2012

Camilla Delacoe ventured to the Big Smoke in hope of fulfilling her lifelong dream of being a fashion journalist. Leaving her Welsh homeland behind, the ambitious 22-year-old graduated from University College Falmouth with a BA Hons degree in Journalism and is paving her way in the media industry as a fashion blogger.
“Moving away and trying to get the industry to take notice of you is always going to be a struggle but I believe that with the right mindset and determination it can be done,” says Camilla.
Camilla has always said she knew she wanted to be a writer ever since she began rifling through the magazine stands in local newsagents. It was when she was in her teens that she took a high interest in fashion.
Immersing herself in the magazines, she often took her inspiration from Hollywood style icon Marilyn Monroe. “It was in my desperation to replicate some of her most famous looks when I first got interested in fashion and particularly vintage fashion. She is an incredible inspiration and I don’t think my bookshelf could possibly hold more books about that amazing woman.” And it’s worth noting that Camilla has not just admiration but similarities to her style icon as well with her luscious blonde locks and her own iconic beauty spot.
After discussing beauty icons, Camilla has expressed the reputation of one lady in particular that inspired her to keep pursuing the fashion industry. “After seeing The September Issue (2009) a few years ago, I fell in love with Anna Wintour, which I know is strange as she’s portrayed as an unapproachable person I guess. I just thought that despite her reputation for being an absolute ice queen, she has really accomplished something and would be an amazing person to work for.”
One thing Camilla has been working on in her spare time is her fashion blog ‘She Hearts The High Street’. Recently redesigned, is a place where she puts her fashion mind to work. She has an eye for detail, making her blog a very enjoyable read.
“Of course being a blogger there are many bloggers that I love and ‘follow’ too… some for a good few years now. Two of my favourite bloggers are Erin of Calivintage and Jen at The Style Crusader as they’re both super stylish but have real substance too, and their blogs have served as great inspiration to me,” says the graduate. Camilla’s pieces on her style inspirations based on fellow celebrities are fabulous and really help the reader find the best bargain alternatives.
While living away from home, Camilla has worked on a selection of projects. She has had past experience working in India on a work placement for Grazia magazine and has also had the opportunity for internships whilst living in London. “Hopefully within the next year an internship will blossom into a job, but there’s always freelance work to keep you going in the meantime.”
Many young girls are trying to break into the fashion world and Camilla shares some advice about pursuing your dreams: “My advice would be to find something you love and go do it, be it writing or another hobby, because you’re going to be doing it every day of your life so it’d better be something you’re passion about. Never give up on what it is you want to do, and don’t let people tell you you can’t do it or it won’t turn out. Just prove them wrong.”
